Weston’s Pool Maintenance Experts Offer these Tips on Pool Vacuums

Weston’s Pool Maintenance Experts Offer these Tips on Pool Vacuums

Keeping your pool clean is essential to enjoying it safely. Vacuuming is a big part of keeping it clean. Many pool vacuums are designed to stay inside your pool and travel along the surface of on their own, picking up dirt and other similar particles. The vacuum then disposes the debris directly into the filter. Pool vacuums get pretty costly but you will find over time that they are a good investment. They can save you a good deal of time and effort.

Types of Pool Vacuums

Certain vacuums are designed to get their suction by working off the pools the main pump. There are others are with motors and pumps of their own. The advantage of using a vacuum that has it’s own power is that in the event there is a problem with your pool’s pump you can still vacuum and keep your pool clean while the pool pump is being repaired.

Manual pool vacuums general have 3 parts; a telescopic pole, a hose and a head. Start by attaching the vacuum head to the pole. The pole will assist you in maneuvering the vacuum around the surface of the pool collecting debris. Once you have the head attached to the pole you can then connect the hose to the head. Hold the vacuum head and hose in the pool. Put the end you are holding close to the pool’s water intake. The hose will start to sink once you fill it with water and you will start to notice the suction. At this point you can connect the skimmer and the hose and you are ready to go.

There are 3 common styles of pool vacuums:
• pressure-side
• robotic pool
• suction-side

The suction-side vacuums are ideal for pools with sizeable amounts of dirt and are powered by water pressure. Pressure-side pool vacuums are available with or without a booster pump. Robotic vacuums are the easiest to use and are mostly automatic. They are also the most expensive.

Nobody likes a dirty pool. Your pool’s hygiene can effect both your enjoyment of it as well as the health of your family. Be sure to vacuum regularly.

Sunrise Pool Maintenance Experts Offer These 5 Money Saving Tips

Sunrise Pool Service Experts Offer These 5 Easy Time Saving Tips for Keeping Your Pool Clean

Pipeline Pools, the expert pool maintenance pros in Sunrise offer up a few hacks to make pool cleaning easier and more effective. You know you have to clean your pool and you have to do it on a regular basis, but you can create an environment to make it an easier task by following these five simple tips.
Weird Tricks to Keep Your Sunrise Pool Clean and Sparkling
  1. Turbocharge your skimmer basket. Most baskets already do a good job of collecting debris but there are always those "no-see-um" pieces of debris and trash that slip through the screen. You can put the brakes on that flaw in the cleaning process by wrapping an old pair of pantyhose around the basket. Hair, sand and other small pieces of junk are not going to pass through the itty bitty holes in the nylon fabric.
  2. Tennis anyone? No takers? Toss those brand new tennis balls in your pool or hide them in the skimmer basket and they will soak up sun screen, body lotions, and any other oily substance your family or guests bring into your pool. An easy and inexpensive way to keep your pool crystal clear.
  3. Bugs and bug parts seem to favor burial at sea and your pool is a great substitute for the briny blue. The best way to reduce these floating nuisances is to reduce the number of live ones that hang around your pool. Planting lemongrass near the pool will help with that. Lemongrass contains citronella a natural bug repellant. If your problem is wasps try filling a small paper bag with plastic grocery bags, tying off the end and hanging it (or them if you have a bigger problem) as a decoy near the pool. Wasps generally won't build new nests within 200 feet of existing nests.
  4. Save a buck with baking soda. Baking soda is an amazing substance with at least 101 uses from cleaning tile to brushing teeth. When it comes to pool cleaning baking soda is every bit as effective as any pool alkalinity product in balancing your pH and it does it at a fraction of the cost.
  5. Keep your pool parties under control. When guests arrive who have forgotten to bring a swim suit and they jump in with clothes on they are contributing to a less than clear pool. Small doses of people wearing shorts or tees while swimming are no big deal but clothing can bleed or fray when it comes in contact with chlorine contributing to a cloudy appearance. Make bathing suits a requirement for pool use.
Your pool is a major investment and a great source of entertainment and relaxation. Just like your home or your car it needs ongoing maintenance. If you need help with pool cleaning, maintenance, repair or renovation give the Sunrise pool pros a call today and we will be happy to assist.

Pembroke Pines Pool Maintenance Experts Offer These Tips

Pembroke Pines Pool Maintenance Experts Provides 7 Steps for Keeping Your Pool Clean and Safe
Pool maintenance in Pembroke Pines doesn't have to be difficult. It does however require a consistent effort on the part of the homeowner or a professional pool maintenance company like Pembroke Pine's premiere pool cleaner service Pipeline Pools.

If you choose to maintain your pool yourself, Pipeline Pools offers up these 7 helpful tips to keep your pool crystal clear, sparkling and ready for your entire family to safely enjoy.
7 Tips for Routine Pool Cleaning in Pembroke Pines
  1. Skimming is the easiest and fastest way to keep a pool clean. Use a long handled net to scoop up leaves, cut grass, bugs and other debris that finds its way into the pool. Removing this debris improves the circulation of your pool and can reduce the requirement for chlorine. Skim every few days. If you get windy weather you'll want to skim every morning.
  2. Just as easy as skimming is cleaning out strainer baskets at least once per week. Use a hose if necessary to get all the debris out. Clean baskets, like a clean water surface, will improve the circulation in your pool.
  3. Regardless how well you skim the surface, some of that dirt and debris is going to sink to the bottom of the pool. As a result, once a week you should vacuum your pool. Vacuums come in both manual and automatic models. The important thing is to use them regularly to help keep your pool clean.
  4. When you vacuum it is also a good idea to clean the sides of the pool to remove dirt and any mold or fungus. Be sure to consult with your pool manufacturer's manual to determine what kind of brush and cleaning agent to use.
  5. Watch the water level. During the season your pool will lose water through evaporation but also through normal swimming activity like splashing and just getting out of the pool. Don't let the water dip below the skimmer line or you may damage the skimmer pump. Use a simple garden hose to bring the level up.
  6. Test your water at least weekly to maintain the correct ph balance. Test kits are easy to use and pool chemicals are available at any pool supply store.
  7. Over time organic contaminates can accumulate and create chloramines which give off that powerful chlorine smell that people associate with pools. To correct this you need to add a significant amount of chlorine to "shock" the water back to normal. Check the pool manual to determine how often you should "shock" your pool.
If you simply don't have the time to perform these cleaning tasks, or you are having maintenance trouble like a broken pump, call the Pembroke Pines pool experts at Pipeline Pools now and we will be happy to assist.

Davie Pool Maintenance Experts Offer These Tips on Water Testing

Davie Pool Water Maintenance Experts Offer These Tips on Keeping Your Water Clean, Clear and Safe

It's summertime in Davie and that means the pool in the backyard is going to get a real workout and is going to require more pool cleaning and pool maintenance than Davie's cooler "season" climate. While pool maintenance and cleaning can get pretty involved, the number one consideration for your family's health and enjoyment is the quality of the water.
Ideally your pool's water should be crystal clear and have no scent. However, it's summer and stuff happens. Stuff like torrential afternoon rains and humans shedding skin oil, sun block and shampoo along with a sun beating down with chemical altering UV rays. Keeping the water in your pool clean and chemically balanced is a must do to safely enjoy the swim.
Weekly pool maintenance in a nutshell
From the experts at Weston's premiere pool service company, Pipeline Pool come these helpful tips on how to keep your pool water crystal clear and safe:
  • Ensuring your pool water is chemically balanced is not rocket science. You can get all the chemicals and testing material at any pool supply store. What you have to provide is a dry place to store them and, most importantly, the commitment to spend the time doing the pool cleaning chore on a timely basis.
  • During the summer months you want to test the pool balance twice per week. Check the alkalinity first, then the bromine or chlorine, then the PH. Adjust the balance using the instructions on the kit. If you are using chlorine you can make adding the chemical easy by dispensing it in a floating chlorine dispenser.
  • Once a week you want to "shock" the pool. A shock is basically giving your pool an overdose of chlorine. Chlorine is diminished by the sun's UV rays and by heavy use. Shocking should be done in the evening when the sun isn't directly hitting the water and when people are not in the pool. Shock kits are available and the process is pretty simple.
  • The morning after the "shock" you want to add an algaecide and then test the water and ensure it is in balance. Your pool should be clear and have no chlorine scent.
  • Basically through the summer you want to test twice a week and shock once a week to keep the water in your pool at its optimum. When the weather cools off you can back off the schedule to testing once a week and shocking every 2 or 3 weeks depending on how much use the pool gets.
The key of course is making the time to provide the pool maintenance required. If you don't have the time or you just prefer not to have to worry about water quality, give us a call today.

Weston Pool Maintenance Experts Offer These Tips

Tips for Keeping Your Pool Clean and Safe From Weston’s Pool Maintenance Experts
Whether you hire a pool maintenance company or do it your self it’s important to understand what it takes to keep your pool clean and safe. Here are a few tips from the experts:
  1. Skimming. Stuff happens…every day. Stuff floats down from trees, insects drop in for a quick drink and drown, windblown debris from humans (your family and guests) scatter over the pool surface and it all needs to be skimmed off. Debris left on the surface will eventually sink making the cleanup even more time consuming. Skim every day.
  2. Water level. The water level in your pool will vacillate depending on the weather and pool use. Weston's summer showers and thunderstorms will obviously add water while high temperatures and kids doing cannonballs will evaporate and splash water out of the pool. Ideally the water level should be half way up the opening of your skimmer. You can add water with a garden hose or decrease the level with a submergible pump rented from a home improvement store. Always check your chemical levels after making adjustments.
  3. Chemical balance. Ideally the water in your pool should be crystal clear and free of scent. If it isn't you most likely have a chemical imbalance that needs to be corrected. The CDC recommends that you test the water for 6 chemical levels at least once per week. DIY tests are available at any pool store and are very easy to use. Keeping the chemicals in your pool balanced is essential not only in the maintenance of your pool but the safety and maximum enjoyment of you and your family. Take the time to test!
  4. Strainer Baskets and Filters. Clean strainer baskets and filters promote efficient water circulation and reduces the amount of chlorine required. Check the strainer baskets at least weekly and pump filters when the difference in flow between the pressure gauge and flow meter reaches 10 to 15 lbs. per square inch.
  5. Schedule a Professional Inspection. The smart Weston homeowner has their air conditioner inspected and serviced once a year and the same should hold true for the homeowner who has a pool. Get a professional once over to ensure your investment is getting the care it needs.
Of course there are more tasks involved in good pool maintenance like brushing walls, vacuuming and deck washing but we wanted to give you an idea of the time commitment required to keep your pool in good shape. If you have questions about your pool maintenance or if you are interested in a customized plan please don't hesitate to give us a call today at (954) 389-9922.
